I have been attending the protests almost every day since February 15. I have been there, I have taken pictures, I have talked to the participants. I have been amazed and inspired by the passionate, creative, energetic and (most of all) peaceful people I have had the chance to meet. What I read and see in the media does not reflect what I have participated in. Like many others, I am sure, I have taken to the internet to combat this. I want the world to know what is happening here. I want the world to hear our voices.

Prior to February 15, I was politically aware. Now, I am politically active. There are thousands more like me who never thought they would be political activists. But, now we are working to make sure that the voice of Wisconsin is heard.

Prior to February 15, I was a resident of Wisconsin. Now, I am a reluctant revolutionary and, apparently, despite my best intentions, a blogger.

I am also keeping a flickr page with all of my images of the protests at:

On my bike ride down to the Capitol today, I had my ipod on shuffle, and this came up first thing. It’s been coming up a lot lately. I have a lot of music on my ipod and this keeps coming up. Well, today, it was exactly what I needed to hear.

“We know the battle ahead will be long,

but always remember that no matter

what obstacles stand in our way, nothing

can withstand the power of millions of voices

calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this

by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder

and more dissonant in the weeks to come.

We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check.

We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America,

there has never been anything false about hope.

For when we have faced down impossible odds;

when we’ve been told that we’re not ready,

or that we shouldn’t try,

or that we can’t,

generations of Americans have responded

with a simple creed

that sums up the spirit of a people.

Yes we can.”

Waste Of Time

Waste Of Time:
Another late-night entry into the budgeting process: The Republicans pass a motion to prohibit public funds being used for abortions at hospitals that do not provide abortion services and have never provided abortion services and are not planning on ever providing abortion services. ’”This is a waste of time and it’s stupid,” Grigsby said.’ Truer words were never spoken.

GOP Offers Big Tax Break

GOP Offers Big Tax Break:
We can’t afford to educate our children, we can’t afford to keep the promises we’ve made to our public employees, we can’t afford bicycling, recycling, high-speed rail, the arts, or safe water, but apparently what we can afford is to give huge tax breaks to corporations.
